SHARON, Pa. -- A North Water Street man is in jail on homicide charges after an apparent domestic dispute.
Jeremy Archer, 28, of 139 N. Water St., was arrested Thursday afternoon after a car and foot chase with police. He was wanted in the death of Kristen Lynn Truchan, 24, of Masury. Police said the two had a relationship.
Sharon police said Truchan was found dead in Archer's home by a probation officer who had stopped by for a visit at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Sharon Police Capt. Mike Menster said he did not know why Archer was on probation.
Preliminary autopsy results show that Truchan suffered head and face trauma from a hatchet and was strangled, Menster said. They were awaiting the results of more tests to determine the exact cause of death, he said.
Home invasion case
Hermitage police said Archer was involved in an unrelated home invasion robbery Thursday at a house in the 100 block of South Oakdale Avenue.
Police said the resident came home from work at 11:30 a.m. and found Archer inside.
According to police, Archer held a gun to the resident's head and demanded money. The home owner was bound and gagged before Archer left with money, jewelry, credit cards, check books and the resident's 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier.
Menster said he thinks Archer met with friends after the robbery. The suspect was spotted in a Jeep on North Stateline Road, police said.
Police from Brookville, Sharon and Hermitage were in a car chase and a subsequent foot chase with Archer before he was arrested on East State Street near Grove Street, reports say.
He was arraigned before District Justice Henry Russo on charges of criminal homicide in Truchan's death, and no bond was set. His preliminary hearing on that charge is set for 12:30 p.m. Thursday before District Justice James McMahon.
Archer also was arraigned on charges of burglary, robbery, robbery of a motor vehicle and theft in the Hermitage home invasion, and bond was set at $250,000. His preliminary hearing on those charges is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday before District Justice Henry Russo.
