"It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown' (8 p.m., ABC): Among the first and best of the Peanuts holiday specials, this one has been shown since 1966 without losing any of its appeal. Linus will be disappointed again, of course, but give him credit -- the Great Pumpkin is a great concept.
"Frontline/World: The Curse of Inca Gold" (9 p.m., PBS): Each day, the Yanachoca mine in Peru's Andes Mountains moves 500,000 tons of earth, then processes the ore through cyanide-leaching fields that yield just one ounce of gold per 30 tons processed. On "The Curse of Inca Gold," reporter Lowell Bergman journeys into the Andes -- once a center of the Inca Empire -- to investigate Yanacocha, now one of the world's richest gold mines. On this "Frontline/World" program, Bergman exposes the massive environmental impact of the mine, the fierce local opposition to its expansion, and the scope of the political pressure brought to bear on the fight to control the mine -- which includes the U.S. State Department.
