STRUTHERS -- College students who have juvenile diabetes can apply for the Thomas J. Seefred Trust Scholarship to help meet educational costs. The trust was created eight years ago by Thomas J. Seefred of Struthers. This is the first year that it will award annual scholarships of $3,000 to students between the ages of 18 and 25. Preference is given to students from Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties. Applicants must be successfully completing a standard curriculum at an accredited college, junior college or university. Applications can be found on the trust's Web site at www.seefredtrust.org. They must be postmarked by Nov. 1.
Annual Law Day at YSU
YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown State University will hold its annual Law Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Ohio Room of Kilcawley Center. Admissions representatives from various law schools, including the University of Akron, Capital, Case Western Reserve, Cincinnati, Cleveland-Marshall, Dayton, Duquesne, Liberty, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Regent and Toledo, will be on hand to meet with students. College catalogs, applications and financial aid information will also be available.
Great Pumpkin Hunt set
CANTON -- The Malone College senior class will hold its annual Great Pumpkin Hunt from 10 a.m. to noon next Saturday in and near the Randall Campus Center on campus. The event is open to children ages 3 to 12. Tickets are $3.50 per child in advance and $5 at the door with a $15 maximum cost per family. There is no charge for adults but children must be accompanied by an adult to participate. For tickets, call (330) 471-8273. Costumes are welcome but not required. There will be a pumpkin patch, games, prizes, entertainment and refreshments. The Great Pumpkin Hunt is used to fund senior class philanthropic projects.
