Police in N.E. Ohio arrest boyfriend of slain woman

Police want to question him in the slaying.
NEW YORK (AP) -- The boyfriend of a woman found slain in the exclusive north shore Long Island neighborhood of Sands Point was arrested in Northeast Ohio on a drunken driving warrant, police announced Saturday.
Edgar Sanchez, 34, of Mastic Beach, was arrested Friday on an outstanding warrant from a DWI arrest in Suffolk County, N.Y., said officer Carolyn Kasdorf, a spokeswoman for the Nassau County police.
Sanchez, who failed to appear for a court hearing Wednesday on the DWI case, is considered "a person of interest" in the death of 24-year-old Elisabeth Parisi, Kasdorf said. Parisi's body was found Oct. 15 by a passer-by in the village of Sands Point.
The village is about 50 miles away from her home in Mastic Beach.
Victim's car in Ohio
Sanchez was arrested in Geneva, Ohio, 44 miles east of Cleveland. Police there declined to give details of the arrest. The victim's car, a 1995 Oldsmobile, was found early Saturday in the village of Highland Hills, Ohio, outside Cleveland.
An extradition hearing was scheduled for Monday.
Police on Long Island have not charged Sanchez in connection with the homicide, but Kasdorf said detectives intend to question him about her death.
Parisi, the mother of two young children, was found dead in one of Long Island's most elite neighborhoods, causing some concerns for residents most used to seeing their village police department contend with speeding cars.
Local residents have included members of the Vanderbilt, Guggenheim and Hearst families. Only 2,800 people live in the Gold Coast village, where multimillion-dollar homes overlook the Long Island Sound and the Manhattan skyline glistens in the distance.
The community, which features some of the most expensive real estate in the country, was the model for East Egg, the setting for F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel "The Great Gatsby."
