M. Ridge, W. Reserve, Mathews advance



Brecksville ousted Warren Harding in Division I.
LISBON -- Mineral Ridge, Western Reserve, Mathews and St. Thomas advanced to the district semifinals at the Division IV volleyball tournament at Lisbon High School Saturday.
On Tuesday, Mathews will play Mineral Ridge at 6:30 p.m. in one semifinal, followed by Western Reserve against St. Thomas.
Those winners will return Thursday at 7 p.m. for the district title.
Mathews 25-16-25-25,Lordstown 22-25-20-21
Sophie Paddock had 17 points, 13 kills and nine blocks for top-seeded Mathews (18-2).
Jenna Manz added 27 assists, while Alexis Gill had 12 assists.
Lordstown (15-9) was led by Ashley Gibbs with 23 points, Meagan Gibson with 13 assists and 11 kills, and Alisha Miller with 39 sets.
Mineral Ridge 25-25-25,Leetonia 20-15-16
Alex Ladd led Mineral Ridge (12-9) with 17 points, 23 assists and 57 sets.
Angie Marino added 15 points, while Abbey Kiger and Rachel Siler had nine and six kills, respectively.
Leetonia (5-17) was led by Valerie Goerig with six points, three digs, five kills and three blocks. Sam Miller added 15 assists and Jessica Fiehler had five kills.
St. Thomas 25-25-25,Youngstown Christian 17-16-13
The second seed, St. Thomas (13-8) was led by Stephanie Chirumblo with 12 points. Alexa Baker had 10 assists and 25 sets, and Carly Pavlick had six aces, 15 kills and three blocks.
Kara Pecchia had nine points and 10 sets for Youngstown Christian (4-7). Danielle Pecchia added six assists and Rachel Coristin had eight kills.
Western Reserve 11-26-20-25-17, Jackson-Milton 25-24-25-21-15
Western Reserve (14-11) was led by Kristiana Brown with 21 points. Kaelyn Hrabak added 20 points and eight blocks, while Rachel Hernan had 19 points, 15 digs and 12 kills, and Leta Lenhart had 41 assists.
Alyssa Chine led Jackson-Milton (13-12) with 24 points and seven aces. Megan Whitmer had 49 assists and 40 sets, and Allyson Chepke had 21 kills.

SOLON -- Brianna Carpenter had 49 digs, Belinda Hernon had 17 kills and four blocks and Robin Ivory had two aces for Warren Harding (11-10), which lost in a Division I sectional final at Solon High School.
Krystyn Flanigan added 40 assists and Jasmyn Stringer had 12 points for the Raiders.
