YOUNGSTOWN -- The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 305 Wick Ave., is celebrating its 125th anniversary with an author gala Saturday that will also launch a new literary society.
Mary Doria Russell, an author who has been recognized with nine national and international literary awards, will be the featured speaker for the dinner event.

The main library will be closed all day Saturday to prepare for the event.
The library staff will also launch a Literary Society, which will work to bring special programs, including noted authors, to the community, celebrate literacy and raise money to support the library's mission.
