Illinois State crushes Northern Iowa, 38-3



Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois also won.

NORMAL, Ill. -- Luke Drone completed 22 of 28 passes for 321 yards and four touchdowns Saturday to lead Illinois State over Northern Iowa 38-3.
Drone connected with Laurent Robinson on touchdown passes of 46, 9 and 25 yards, and also hit Tristan Borzick on a 4-yard score in the first quarter. Robinson finished with 243 yards on 10 receptions, giving him three straight games with over 100 receiving yards. Illinois State (5-3, 2-2 Gateway) outscored Northern Iowa 21-0 in the first half.
Dexter Hill led Northern Iowa (4-3, 2-2 Gateway), completing 20 of 29 passes for 222 yards and an interception. Hill also led the Panthers' running attack with 35 yards on 19 carries. Despite 303 yards of total offense, Northern Iowa never found the endzone, managing just one field goal in the loss.
W. Kentucky 42, W. Illinois 7
MACOMB, Ill. --Justin Haddix completed 10 of 17 passes for 192 yards and three touchdowns to lead Western Kentucky.
Haddix connected twice with Cory Clemons on scores of 13 and 3 yards, and once with Maurice Perkins for a 41-yard touchdown. Haddix also ran for a touchdown in the win.
Western Kentucky (6-0, 4-0 Gateway) dominated the Leathernecks early, with Lerron Moore scoring on runs of 32 and 2 yards in the first quarter. Haddix added two of his three touchdown passes and his touchdown run to give the Hilltoppers a 35-7 lead at halftime.
Steve LaFalce led Western Illinois (2-6, 0-4 Gateway) with 112 yards on 14-of-19 passing. Travis Glasford added 37 yards on 11 carries, including a 9-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, the Leathernecks' only score of the game. In spite of Glasford's efforts, Western Illinois managed just 19 yards on 24 carries in the loss.
S. Illinois 42, Indiana St. 20
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Joel Sambursky threw for 220 yards and three touchdowns and Arkee Whitlock ran for two scores as Southern Illinois beat winless Indiana State.
The Salukis (5-2, 3-1 Gateway) led 28-14 at halftime and outscored the Sycamores 14-6 after the break, rolling up 463 yards of total offense in the game.
Indiana State (0-8, 0-4) outreached the Salukis in the air, 289 yards to 220, but Southern more than doubled the Sycamores' yardage on the ground with 243 yards rushing compared with 114 for the host team.
Sambursky completed 19 of 24 passes with no interceptions and was sacked once.
Brent Little, J.T. Wise and Alan Turner also caught touchdown passes for the Salukis.
