EAST SUBURBAN CONFERENCE Hughes, Joseph lead Mathews to 41-8 win over Lutheran East



VIENNA -- Brad Hughes and Chris Joseph both scored a pair of touchdowns, leading Mathews to a 41-8 East Suburban Conference victory over Lutheran East Friday night.
Hughes scored on runs of 7 and 5 yards, and finished with 149 yards on 16 carries, while Joseph scored on a 31-yard run and a 26-yard pass from Lucas Buckner for Mathews (6-3, 5-1 ESC).
Nick Ocheltree and Brent Jackson both scored on 1-yard runs for the Mustangs, who held Lutheran East (2-7, 1-5) to 65 yards total offense.

PYMATUNING -- Aaron Agresta set three school passing records, but Youngstown Christian came up on the short end against Pymatuning Valley, ending the Eagles' league title hopes.
Agresta completed 28-of-49 passes for 334 yards -- all school marks -- and two touchdowns, and Aaron Tate caught a school-record 11 passes for 136 yards for Youngstown Christian (6-3, 4-2).
The Eagles needed to beat Pymatuning Valley and Ledgemont in next week's finale to grab a share of the league crown.
Tate scored a pair of touchdowns, one on a 37-yard pass and the other when he picked up a fumble -- following a 15-yard reception to teammate Anthony Lagamba -- and ran three yards.
Lagamba scored the other touchdown on a 27-yard pass.
Tate led the Eagle ground attack with 52 yards on 12 attempts. Eddie Gonda had seven catches for 103 yards and Lagamba seven receptions for 60 yards.
Brafford had 86 yards on 12 carries and scored on a 3-yard run and 11-yard pass from Blascak for Pymatuning (4-5, 4-2).
