CITY ROUNDUP Boardman pushes Jackson to limit, before losing 15-13
Beaver Local and Warren Harding also posted victories.
BOARDMAN -- Lambert Budzinski returned a kick 71 yards for a score with just more than eight minutes remaining Friday, sparking Massillon Jackson to a 15-13 Federal League victory over Boardman.
Budzinski's return came moments after Armani Johnson gave Boardman (1-8, 1-5 Federal) a 13-9 lead in the fourth quarter.
Boardman had a chance at the end of the game to pull off the upset, driving inside the Jackson 20, but a 26-yard field goal with 26 seconds remaining sailed wide right.
Jackson (7-2, 5-1) jumped out to a 9-7 halftime lead on field goals of 34, 25 and 21 yards by John Oberhauser.
Boardman's first-half score came on Frank Ocasio's 1-yard run.
Tyme Hammond led Boardman with 63 yards on 18 carries while Joe Bako was 7-of-15 through the air for 47 yards -- five passes going to Johnson covering 33 yards.
James Craven led the Jackson attack with 126 yards on 21 attempts.
Beaver Local 14,Chaney 6
CALCUTTA -- Luke Neville returned the opening kick 79 yards for a score and Beaver Local went on to defeat Chaney.
Jim Bowersock added a 24-yard scoring run for the Beavers (7-2).
Robert McElroy scored on a 1-yard run for Chaney (4-4).
Bowersock paced a balanced Beaver Local attack with 108 yards on 20 carries while Neville finished with 78 yards on eight tries. Beaver Local racked up 275 yards total offense -- all on the ground.
Antwan Rice was 8-of-13 through the air for 54 yards and led the Cowboys with 34 yards on 10 rushes. Kory Jackson had four receptions for 24 yards.
Warren Harding 47,Pittsburgh Brashear 0
WARREN -- Dan Herron carried 15 times for 140 yards and three touchdowns for Harding (3-6).
Herron also caught a touchdown pass and Reggie Scrivens added six carries for 64 yards as the Raiders outgained Brashear 211 to minus-6 on the ground. Sidney Glover completed 4 of 5 passes for 169 yards and four TDs.
Mustapha Asante completed 6-of-15 passes for 95 yards for Brashear.
