Bowlen's four goals pace win



AUSTINTOWN -- Senior Jodi Bowlen scored four goals, three of them in the first half, as the Fitch High girls soccer team blanked Hubbard 7-0 for a Division I sectional title Saturday at the Falcons' stadium.
Kristi Brendlinger, Amanda Sprowl and Dana Lucido added a goal apiece for the Falcons (12-3-3). Brendlinger and Erica Bortmas each had three assists.
The Falcons had 27 shots on goal and the Eagles (6-9-2) had three.
Cara Calai had two saves for Fitch. Tina Takash had nine saves and Bonnie Besze had three saves for the Eagles.
Canfield 2, Boardman 1
CANFIELD -- Kaley Donovan and Nikki Sorice scored unassisted goals in the second half for the fourth-seeded Cardinals (10-4-4).
Boardman (6-9-3) took a 1-0 lead at the break on a goal by Mallory Hay, assisted by Lea Byers.
Canfield will play at top-seeded Howland on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Boardman goalie Lani Vlad registered 14 saves while Canfield's Anokha Badubieri had four saves.
Howland 6, North Canton 0
HOWLAND -- Senior Erin Gilmour had two goals, while sophomores Allie Airhart and Stephanie Keul, junior Kaylin Hovance and freshman Abby Nicholas had one apiece in the Division I sectional final.
Airhart, senior Rachel Albani, juniors Chelsea Palma, Britney Martorana and Laura Sefcik and freshman Jessica Prokup had assists. It was Prokup's first career assist.
Junior goalie Melissa Airhart had two saves for Fitch while North Canton (7-7-4) goalies Hanna Mirzakhani and Gilliam Penderson had 15 combined.
Mooney 12, Yo. Christian 0
STRUTHERS -- Senior Kelli Willis and freshman Maggie Vinopal each scored two goals for the top-seeded Cardinals (14-2-1) in a Div. II sectional final.
Mara Luongo, Marisa Simon, Becca Marrie and Kortney Thomas added a goal and an assist apiece for the Cardinals, who have won 11 in a row.
Kelly Burke, Colleen Hernan and Kara Joseph also scored and Alex Sierra had an assist for Mooney, ranked No. 5 in the state.
Amanda Vestal saved 13 shots for the Eagles, who were out-shot 25-0 and who fell behind 10-0 at the half.
Champion 2, Badger 0
CHAMPION -- Heather Beachy and Stephanie Rable scored both goals for the Golden Flashes (8-7-3).
Gina Calderona and Brittany Skeels had an assist apiece for Champion, which held a 15-3 edge in shots on goal.
Kati Dvorck had seven saves for the Braves. Beth Sayers had one save for Champion.
Boys
AUSTINTOWN -- Ian Jones and Eric Albani each scored two goals to lead the Howland boys soccer team past Fitch 4-2 in a Division I sectional final.
Josh Keul had both assists for the Tigers, who will travel to play at North Canton Hoover at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a district semifinal match. Dan Miller had six saves.
For Fitch, freshman Nick Bowlen had two goals and Andrew Monk had 16 saves.
