Reese's goal in OT lifts Canfield, 3-2



BELOIT -- In the first big surprise of the boys Division II sectional soccer tournament, Kyle Reese scored the deciding goal as Canfield High eliminated West Branch, 3-2, in overtime Thursday.
A junior, Reese gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead and his teammate, senior Peter Johnson added another goal late in the first half.
The Warriors' Logan Schaffer and Aaron Cronin scored goals to tie the score at 2-all.
Canfield will play host to the winner of Saturday's Liberty-Lakeview game Monday.
Poland 10, Salem 0
POLAND -- Chris Juchmo scored four goals, leading Poland's win over Salem in a Div. II sectional title game.
Substitute Sam Romeo, a freshman, added three goals and Kevin Meek, Dain Malaniak and Steve Gavolas scored one goal apiece.
Blake Rhein had two assists for the Bulldogs. Malaniak and Gavolas each had an assist.
Poland had 14 shots on goal to Salem's four.
Justice Pash had four saves for the Quakers in goal. Caleb Markusic and Thomas Lange combined for four saves for Poland.
Mooney 6, Bristol 0
STRUTHERS -- Zach Hernan scored two goals for Mooney in the Div. III sectional tournament game at the Valley Sports Complex.
Kyle Buxman, Hector Hernandez, Scott Blasko and Aleko Frangopoulos scored a goal apiece for the Cardinals (13-3-1).
Kevin Miller, Rob Fox, Dom DiPasqual, Buxman and Frangopoulos had an assist apiece.
Nick Brown, goalkeeper, had 16 saves for Bristol.
Ursuline 5, Maplewood 0
HUBBARD -- Justin Mihaly, a junior, scored two unassisted goals, leading Ursuline to its victory over Maplewood in a first round Div. III sectional game at Hubbard High.
Corey Mihaly, Vlad Lungu and Nick Clowes added one goal apiece for the Irish (12-3-1). Lucas Gonzalez had an assist.
Ursuline had 23 shots on goal and Maplewood had six.
Ursuline goalie Jared Daly had four saves. Tyler Perkins had nine saves for the Rockets.
Ursuline will take on the winner of the Badger-Cardinal game Monday at Hubbard at 7 p.m.
Other scores
In Div. II, Champion defeated Niles, 4-0, and in Div. III, East Palestine defeated Crestview.
