Officials want mobile-home laws enforced

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Lawrence County commissioners are looking for a way to go after mobile-home owners who move their dwellings and don't pay their property taxes.
J.R. Hardester of the county assessor's office said the county has not been enforcing state laws that give the county authority to go after the home owner and the mobile-home park owner.
The problem is the county has not appointed anyone to enforce the law, such as the county sheriff.
County commissioners said they would like to wait until a new sheriff is elected in November and then start enforcing the state law.
Hardester said they also have problems getting mobile-home park owners to comply with laws requiring them to send lists of tenants.
