Schools to raise funds for victims

AUSTINTOWN -- All district schools are going to try to change the world, or at least a part of it that was devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
Debbie Haseley, PTA president at Frank Ohl Middle School, told the school board at its meeting Monday that a collection will begin as a PTA project to benefit a school district in Port Gibson, Miss.
"We want the kids to know they can make a difference," Haseley said. 'Change Your World' is what it will be called."
Haseley said the Mississippi school district, which was poor to begin with, now needs basic supplies. Students there need shoes and coats.
Haseley said the collection will likely begin next month. She said the goal is to raise $10,000.
