Salem cruises past Chaney in 3



BOARDMAN -- Taylor Toothman served 12 points with four aces and made 29 assists as the Salem High volleyball team opened the Division II tournament at Boardman High with a three-game win over Chaney.
Brittany Gregory served 14 points with two aces and made 15 kills and two blocks as the Quakers won, 25-22, 25-12 and 25-12.
Sarah Ravelli served nine points while Sarah Brobeck made nine kills and a block.
For Chaney, Jacquela Teamor served seven points with an ace. She also made 11 assists. Antaya James made six kills and Breonna Rivers made five kills.

SALEM -- Dana Vargo served 19 points with seven aces and made 15 assists for the Wildcats.
Jennifer McLaughlin served eight points with two aces and made seven kills. Lauren Perry served seven points with an ace. Brianne Ciccone served six points with three aces.
For Wilson, Khadijah Wilson had two aces and Shatayla Moore served four points.

CANTON -- Lauren Pshsniak scored 21 points and made six blocks for the Warriors (13-10). Casey Benner scored 14 points and made 18 kills. Rachael Boyce scored 18 points and made six kills.
West Branch next plays Louisville on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Canton South High.

SALEM -- The fourth-seeded Blue Devils (16-4) will play United Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
