GIRARD -- Police have arrested three people they say shot out windows in about 29 cars with a pellet gun over the weekend.
Jeffrey Ulrich, 35, of Alameda Avenue, Youngstown, is charged with misdemeanor vandalism. Police arrested two juveniles with Ulrich, but their names were not released. Ulrich is to be arraigned in Girard Municipal Court today.
According to police, Ulrich and the two juveniles started shooting out car windows sometime Saturday and did not stop until they were arrested 24 hours later.
Most of the vandalism occurred on Lorain, Lincoln, Townsend, Wilson, Wellman and North avenues, and Smithsonian, Kline, Oak and Liberty streets.
According to Police Chief Frank Bigowsky, the shooting spree continued until one man saw the trio shoot out a window in his car. The man, Bigowsky said, followed the car driven by the alleged vandals and called police.
Bigowsky said Liberty Township police caught up with the car and pulled the three over on Interstate 80. Officers, he said, found a pellet gun in the car along with pellets and a canister of carbon dioxide gas, which provides the power to fire the pellets.

Police are also investigating a report of assault and criminal mischief that reports say is directly linked to the window-shooting spree.
According to reports, a Lawrence Street woman answered her door late Saturday evening and was assaulted by a man contending that she was responsible for the window being shot out of his car.
Reports say the man asked the woman why she had shot out the window, then grabbed her and began shaking her. Another man, reports say, broke the front passenger window of the woman's car while she was being shaken.
According to reports, a light blue car, much like that owned by the woman, was initially believed to have been involved in the window-shooting spree. Reports say police later learned no such car was involved.
No arrest has been made in the assault.
