Kremlin Cup
MOSCOW -- Igor Andreev won a title for the first time in his home country, overcoming leg and feet problems to beat Nicolas Kiefer 5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-2. Mary Pierce won the women's event for her second Kremlin Cup title, a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Francesca Schiavone. Pierce, who also captured this tournament in 1998, will climb to a No. 5 ranking for the first time in five years. Andreev, seeded seventh, won his first two ATP titles earlier this season. He led Kiefer 5-3 in the first set before losing eight straight games. He then regrouped for the victory. "It's unbelievable," the Russian said. "The dream of my childhood has come true." He fell in the second game of the second set and called for a trainer after the second and third games to treat his left leg. He took a medical timeout after breaking the sixth-seeded German at love in the fifth game. Andreev won three consecutive games to make it 4-4 and hit his eighth ace to win a tie-breaker and stay in the match. Kiefer then took a medical timeout after the second set to treat his feet. A break put Andreev ahead 3-0 in the third set, and he sealed the victory with a forehand return on Kiefer's serve in the eighth game. Schiavone had upset second-seeded Amelie Mauresmo, eighth-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova and fourth-seeded Elena Dementieva on the way to her fourth career final. The Italian, who had not dropped a set in four matches, was broken twice in the first set, giving Pierce a 4-1 lead. Schiavone broke back in the eighth game and had a break point at deuce in the 10th, but Pierce served three winners to take the set. After an exchange of breaks, Pierce broke the Italian in the fifth game of the second set. The 30-year-old Frenchwoman completed the victory with an overhead smash on her first match point.
Stockholm Open
STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- James Blake beat Paradorn Srichaphan 6-1, 7-6 (6) for his first European title. Blake, serving and returning well, has won 20 of his last 23 matches in ATP events. The sixth-seed was playing his first ATP event since reaching the U.S. Open quarterfinals, where he lost to Andre Agassi. Blake raced ahead 4-0 in the first set at Royal Tennis Hall. He was threatened on serve only once when he fell behind in the fifth game. But he eventually held serve with an ace and broke Paradorn again. Paradorn, the 2002 Stockholm Open champion, broke with a volley to lead 5-4 in the second set. Blake broke back in the next game and the players held to force the tie-breaker. Blake won it on his third match point when Paradorn hit a forehand long.

She is the first player to win in three consecutive weeks on the WTA Tour this season.
