Firefighters containMineral Ridge blaze
MINERAL RIDGE -- Firefighters kept a blaze contained to the roof of a vacant Union Street building, keeping the flames from spreading into an attached building that houses a trucking company, the chief said.
The owner of the building, at the corner of Union and Depot Road, had recently bought the structure and was burning debris in an incinerator Sunday morning. The incinerator got too hot and caught the roof on fire, said Randy Pugh, Weathersfield fire chief.
Pugh said that the owner had planned to replace the roof. No one was injured.
