Merrills observe 50th anniversary by renewing vows

XLIBERTY TOWNSHIP -- The renewal of marriage vows took place Sept. 24 at Mauthe Park in Struthers as Mr. and Mrs. Stanley R. Merrill of Liberty Township observed their 50th anniversary.
Hosts for the celebration were the couple's sons and daughter-in-law, David and Kathryn Merrill of Girard and Keith Merrill of Portsmouth; their niece and her husband, Georgia and Ray Treharne of Struthers; and Beckie Queen, also of Portsmouth. The couple have four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Merrill and the former Joanne E. Frye were united in marriage Sept. 24, 1955, at First Assembly of God, where they are members.
Mr. Merrill served with the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1953, and retired from U.S. Steel Co., McDonald Works, in 1981 and from Giant Eagle in Austintown in 1999. His wife is a homemaker.
