Winters' three TDs lead Columbiana over Southern
The Clippers won for the eighth straight time with the 34-8 victory.
COLUMBIANA -- Joey Winters rushed for 186 yards in nine carries and touchdowns of 15, 56 and 55 yards to power Columbiana High to a 34-8 victory over Southern in a Tri-County League game Friday night.
Mike Welce and Jarret Welton hooked up for a pair of TD passes to pace the Clippers (8-0, 5-0), who entered the game ranked No. 1 in Region 21 of Division VI in the computer ratings and No. 4 in Div. VI of the Associated Press poll.
Welce hit Welton on TD strikes of 30 and 70 yards, and was 3-for-7 passing for 120 yards.
Nick Puckett rushed for 164 yards in 30 carries and accounted for all of Southern's scoring. Puckett scored a TD from the 1-yard line and ran for the conversion to give Southern (3-5, 3-4) an 8-0 lead in the opening quarter.

NEW WATERFORD -- Adam Thompson rushed for 117 yards on nine carries, including touchdown runs of 59, 7 and 7 yards and he also returned two punts for 56 and 74 yards for TDs for the Rebels (7-1, 5-0).
Dominic Drago scored on a 3-yard run for Wellsville's (3-5, 0-5) only TD.
East Palestine 27,Leetonia 20
LEETONIA -- Quarterback Zac Dunn scored East Palestine's final three touchdowns on 1-yard plunges, including the winning score in the first overtime,= as the Bulldogs rallied to beat Leetonia.
Dunn's 1-yard run in the last quarter and his conversion pass to Joe Thompson pulled East Palestine (4-4, 3-2) into a 20-20 tie to set up the extra session.
Dunn also fired a 14-yard TD pass to Thompson in the second quarter. He finished with 273 yards passing on 17-for-31 with two interceptions. Pat Figley contributed 29 yards rushing in nine carries.
Jake Kreugel led Leetonia (4-4, 2-3) with a 65-yard TD run and 131 yards rushing in 11 carries. Quarterback Corey Raushenbach was 3-for-6 passing for 39 yards.
