Mahoning County Chapter of ARC to honor Valley heroes

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross is seeking nominees from the general public for its Heroes of the Mahoning Valley award.
Nominations must be submitted by Nov. 11 on the Red Cross' forms which can be obtained by calling the chapter at (330) 726-6063.
The second annual awards in nine categories will be presented Jan. 14, 2006.
The heroic act must have been performed between Sept. 1, 2004, and Sept. 1, 2005, and must have taken place in the Mahoning County jurisdiction, which includes all of Mahoning County and Hubbard, Liberty and Girard in Trumbull County.
The nine hero nomination categories are:
UFirefighter.
ULaw enforcement.
UMedical.
UGood neighbor, over 21.
UYouth Samaritan, 21 and under.
UAnimal, either human caregiver or animal hero.
UWorkplace safety.
UEducator.
UCommunity impact, involvement in a project that impacts the community.
