Magazine lists dos and don'ts for wearing hot accessories
NEW YORK (AP) -- InStyle magazine issues a progress report on fall's hottest accessories in its October issue, which features Sarah Jessica Parker on the cover.
The dos and don'ts of the trends:
UJet beads. Do wear with head-to-toe black. Don't forget the contrast works even better with blue tones.
UPlush velvet. Do think of it as another texture to break up your outfit. Don't wear it head-to-toe.
UExotic skins, such as crocodile and snake. Do opt for faux pieces if the real deal is too costly. Mix textures, adding skins to outfits that also include leather and fabric. Don't mix animals.
UWide belts. Do wear the belt low slung over a tunic and slim trousers if you're waist isn't your favorite body part. Don't worry about the loops. Many of these belts are meant to be worn over long cardigans or to cinch coats and curve-conscious jackets.
ULace-up shoes and boots. Do pair with wide-leg trousers or fuller, longer skirts. (Make sure the top is trim to keep the look in proportion.) Don't wear with jeans as this style is better suited to dressy wool or tweed.
UEmbellishment. Do add spice to a monochromatic skirt suit or jeans with a white blouse. Don't wear too many beads at once. Stick to one embellished item at a time, saving the most elaborate pieces for the evening.
