Liberty rolls to eighth straight victory, 29-7



The Leopards wrapped up a share of the TAC title against Newton Falls.
NEWTON FALLS -- Chris Harden carried 11 times for 91 yards Friday to help the Liberty High football team defeat Newton Falls 29-7 in a Trumbull Athletic Conference game.
The Leopards (8-0, 5-0 TAC) jumped ahead 22-0 at the break and led 29-0 entering the final quarter.
Combined with Brookfield's loss to Lakeview, Liberty wrapped up a share of the TAC championship. Liberty is fourth in the Division IV, Region 13 computer ratings.
Robert Hightower added seven carries for 45 yards and a 5-yard touchdown run for Liberty. Dania Gilliam tacked on touchdown carries of 3 and 8 yards.
The Tigers (1-7, 1-4) got on the board when Mike Pelyak dove in from 1 yard away. George Davis ran 25 times for 110 yards and Brad Blevins added 10 runs for 32 yards for Newton Falls.
Hubbard 48,Champion 7
HUBBARD -- Steve Cinicola gained 149 yards on 18 carries and scored on a 14-yard run. He also caught a 4-yard TD strike from Marc Kanetsky.
The Eagles (5-3, 3-2) built a commanding 35-7 halftime lead. Hubbard rushed for 323 yards on 27 attempts and Kanetsky completed 7-of-9 pass fro 70.
Champion (2-6, 1-4) was limited to 29 rushing yards and 52 passing yards.
LaBrae 47,Girard 19
GIRARD -- LaBrae quarterback Dan Hartman scored three touchdowns and threw for three more to lead the Vikings.
Hartman ran 14 times for 80 yards and two scores and also returned an interception 28 yards for a TD. He completed 4 of 9 passes for 115 yards.
Kyle Rowan caught two passes for 110 yards and two TDs while Mike Witherow added a 26-yard touchdown reception.
Kyle Moore led the Vikings (4-4, 2-3) with 86 yards rushing on 10 carries.
Brett Dutton threw a 66-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Stadelmyer and added a 26-yard touchdown run for Girard (3-6, 2-3). Jim Petrella caught six passes for 87 yards and Mark Fiest had six catches for 72 yards.
