Bellagio fountain show, Monday-Friday, 3 p.m.-midnight; Saturday and Sunday, noon - midnight; every half-hour until 8 p.m. and every 15 minutes, 8 p.m.-midnight.
"Sirens of TI" show, Treasure Island, 7 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. through Oct. 30; from Oct. 31 to Dec. 5, at 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.; closed Dec. 6-Dec. 24.

Hotels: Good hotels for families include the Monte Carlo (great location, accessible layout, pool complex); Circus Circus (indoor amusement park, free circus shows, but located at one end of the Strip); Mandalay Bay (Shark Reef, pool complex); MGM Grand (Lion Habitat, pool complex, but children may tire navigating the long walkways); Stratosphere (four thrill rides).

Tips: Check your hotel Web site for discounts after you book and ask at check-in if a better rate is available. The price on our room dropped 50 percent after we reserved, and it was easy to rebook.
