Eleven women will be recognized for their service to the community.
BOARDMAN -- The YWCA have chosen 11 area women for recognition at the 28th annual Women of the Year Awards Banquet to be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at Mr. Anthony's.
The honorees in the Women of Achievement category were nominated by local organizations and selected by a panel of judges. They have all had a positive impact on the community through volunteer participation in civic, business or religious organizations, community involvement and contributions.
Those to be honored and their nominators are:
UPatricia Christ of Youngstown, Richard Brown Memorial United Methodist Church.
USally Anne Gunn of Canfield, Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County.
UTheresa Hoon of Columbiana, Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors.
UStephanie Ip Hunter of Canfield, Junior League of Youngstown.
USandra Y. Johnston of Poland, Youngstown Business and Professional Women.
UShirley Ann Megown of Youngstown, Church Women United of the Youngstown Area.
UKathleen Price of Youngstown, Donna Hageman.
UMary Celeste VanSickle of Boardman, Angels of Easter Seals.
Those receiving recognition in the Women of Professional Excellence category were selected by their employers based on outstanding contributions they made to their companies. They reflect the impact and commitment women make in their professional lives.

Purpose
Proceeds from the event will benefit the programs and services of the YWCA, including child care and youth development, housing for homeless women and children, and support groups and wellness programs.
