Veterinary medicine
Christine R. (Rouser) Brandon, daughter of Mona and Grant Rouser of Youngstown, has received her doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
She is a 2000 graduate of Youngstown State University and a 1996 graduate of Ursuline High School. Dr. Brandon is an intern with Affiliated Animal Care in Chesapeake, Va., for the next year. She then plans to pursue a residency in radiation oncology. She and her husband, Jeremy, live in Columbus.

Local woman wins crown
Canfield resident Elyse Healey was recently named Miss Stark County 2006 and will represent the area at the Miss Ohio Scholarship Pageant to be held in Mansfield next June. She was crowned by the current Miss Ohio, Marlia Fontaine, and was presented with awards including cash scholarships and prizes totaling about $2,000.
The pageant was at North Canton Civic Center, where 16 other women from around Ohio vied for the title. Healey won three of the four awarded categories, including the Interview, Talent and Evening Gown.
Healey, 19, is a sophomore political science/pre-law major at Kent State University and a 2004 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School. She is the daughter of Chris and JoAnn Healey of Canfield.
In 2004, she was named first runner-up in the Ohio's Junior Miss Scholarship Pageant. In addition to attending KSU, she is a speech coach at Cardinal Mooney.
Healey's platform for the Miss Ohio Program is "Think Ability -- Reaching Out to Individuals with Mental and Physical Disabilities." She previously was a volunteer at the Leonard Kirtz School for the disabled in Austintown before leaving for college.
