VIENNA -- Warren-Sharon Road will be closed about 350 feet east of Niles-Vienna Road in Vienna Township on Tuesday and Wednesday for a culvert replacement, the Trumbull County Engineer's Office reports.
Candidates forum
YOUNGSTOWN -- The public is invited when the Seventh Ward Citizens Coalition holds a Candidates Night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Brownlee Woods Presbyterian Church, 1970 Everett Ave. The event will feature candidates for Youngstown mayor and president of council.
Cemetery cleanup
NILES -- The caretaker of St. Stephen Cemetery has requested that all decorations be removed by Oct. 31 for fall cleanup. Any remaining after that date will be discarded.
Mammo Van at YMCA
WARREN -- The Breast Care Center's mobile mammography unit, the Mammo Van, will be making a stop at the Warren Family YMCA, 210 High Street N.W., from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 27.
Breast cancer will develop in one of eight women, but with early detection through mammography, cure rates approach 100 percent, the Breast Care Center reports.

Candidates at meeting
YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown Board of Education candidates are invited to attend a 7 p.m. Wednesday meeting of the Southern Boulevard Block Watch at St. Dominic Parish Center, 3404 Southern Blvd. The candidates will answer questions from audience members. The public is invited.
Fire department event
BOARDMAN -- The fire department will conduct an open house to mark Fire Prevention Week from 1 to 4 p.m. next Saturday.
This year's theme is "Using Candles with Care."
Although the number of house fires in the township has declined in recent years, the number caused by candles has risen, officials said. The risk of candle fires can be reduced if people follow some guidelines including never leaving candles unattended and keeping them away from children.
The public is invited to tour the fire stations and have questions answered about the do's and don'ts of fire safety. Refreshments will be served.
Parade units wanted
SHARON, Pa. -- Organizers of the annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Sharon are looking for organizations and musical units to march in the Nov. 12 event. Interested groups should contact Bob Dach at (724) 347-2527 or Tony Cashier at (724) 342-2940. The parade normally moves through the downtown business district on State Street but weight restrictions on the State Street Bridge have forced organizers to change the route. This year, the parade will start at Oakland Avenue and travel east on East State Street to Sharon American Legion Post 299 at 1395 E. State St.
Bike ride fundraiser
CHAMPION -- The second annual Garrett Wonders birthday bicycle ride will be Oct. 23 beginning and ending at the Trumbull Career and Technical Center, 528 Educational Highway.
The ride is in memory of Garrett Wonders, a Warren native who was killed in a bicycle accident in Charleston, S.C., on March 10, 2004, while training for the Olympics. He was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and The Ohio State University.
Registration will be from 7 to 11 a.m. on ride day at TCTC. Participants can ride 10, 50 or 100 kilometers (about six, 31 and 62 miles, respectively) over the Trumbull County Greenway bike trail and adjoining roads.
Event-day registration fees are $20 per adult and $37 per family.
Proceeds will go to the Garrett Wonders Memorial Fund, which provides scholarships for members of the OSU Cycling Team and for members of the Harding Band and funds for cycling advocacy.

AKRON -- High school students interested in attending the University of Akron are invited to the annual Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences & quot;Round-Up & quot; recruiting event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 26 in the atrium of the College of Arts & amp; Sciences building.
