United Way nears campaign's halfway point

WARREN -- United Way of Trumbull County is nearing the halfway mark for pledges and contributions for its 2005 campaign, now at $943,758.
This is 46 percent of last year's campaign total.
Volunteers and community representatives met Thursday at YWCA of Warren.
Donald W. Emerson Jr., campaign chairman, said the program must continue to offset the impact of attrition and retirements at key employers.
"We must continue to expand our giving base to include new campaigns and new contributors," he said. "And as a United Way, we must address the root causes of social problems."
