Pupils' good will gets recognition on Web page

POLAND -- The generosity of pupils in the Poland Schools got the district recognized in the Oct. 8 U.S. Department of Defense Web page.
The page featured a story about how the pupils collected school supplies and sent them to the Gilgamish Primary Girls School in Baghdad.
The supplies, from backpacks to crayons and pencils and paper, were collected and donated by pupils in Poland's three elementary schools. Poland Seminary High School Student Council collected and packaged the items and the Poland Rotary picked up the $300 tab for shipping the material to Iraq.
There were enough items to give 280 bags of supplies. The shipment also included 10 boxes of supplies for teachers.
The supplies were delivered to the school by American soldiers from C Troop, 3rd Squadron, 67th Cavalry Regiment and Iraqi Security Forces.
Dr. Robert Zorn, Poland superintendent, said Lt. Adam Harris, a Poland graduate, was instrumental in arranging the goodwill gesture from American elementary pupils in Poland to elementary pupils in Iraq.
