Game time: Tonight, 7 p.m., at YSU.
Last meeting: Chaney won 25-7 last year.
Notebook: Chaney has not lost to Rayen since 1989. The Cowboys beat Wooster Triway 21-14 Friday. Quarterback Antwan Rice hit on 5-of-13 passes for 115 yards and touchdowns of 67 and 19 yards to Kory Jackson, both in the first half. In six games Jackson has 32 catches for 532 yards. Sir Franklin rushed 11 times for 73 yards and a TD. Rayen has won five in a row. The Tigers scored 18 fourth-quarter points to beat Campbell Memorial 24-7 Friday. Quarterback Sal Battles ran 24 times for 104 yards. Passing, Battles was 3-for-10 for 76 yards. Although this is the first City Series game of the year, the Chaney-Rayen winner will wrap up at least a tie for the league championship.
MOONEY (6-1)vs. AKRON ST. VINCENT-ST. MARY (5-2)
Game time: Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Akron SVSM.
Last meeting: Mooney won 19-13 last year.
Notebook: Mooney, the defending Div. IV state champions, suffered its first loss, 28-13 at Cleveland Benedictine Friday. Benedictine is the two-time defending Div. III state champions. Junior quarterback Tony Brunetti, filling in for injured Derrell Johnson, hit Pat Kelley and Ken Coleman with touchdown strikes of 23 and 54 yards respectively. Nate Burney ran 31 times for 134 yards and on the year has 158 carries for 1,108 yards and 10 touchdowns. When Burney gains 18 more rushing yards, he will take over second place on Mooney's all-time list. Mooney is first in Div. IV, Region 13 of the computer ratings. Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary beat Columbus St. Charles 47-0 Friday. Junior running backs Diamond Hart and Dwayne Richardson each scored two touchdowns. Hart had six carries for 91 yards and senior fullback Josh Rohler had 74 rushing yards. The Irish are third in Div. IV, Region 13.
URSULINE (3-4)
vs. COLUMBUS WATTERSON (6-1)
Game time: Friday, 7:30 p.m. at YSU.
Last meeting: Watterson won 31-14 last year.
Notebook: Ursuline fell to Canton Central Catholic, 28-6 Friday. Ursuline suffered four turnovers and has lost three of its last four games. Matt Yarab ran 60 yards for the Ursuline score with 1:14 remaining. Ursuline quarterback Bryant Youngblood completed 9-of-19 passes for 111 yards. Ursuline was intercepted four times. Ryan Curry leads the Irish with 60 points. Despite the sub-.500 record, the Irish aren't out of the playoff hunt. Ursuline is rated 10th in Div. IV, Region 13. Columbus Watterson beat Columbus DeSales 22-3 last week. Watterson is third in Div. II Region 7 of the computer ratings (just behind Canfield) and ranked seventh in Ohio by the AP.
NILES (4-3, 1-1)
vs. CANFIELD (7-0, 2-0)
Game time: Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Canfield High School.
Last meeting: Niles won last year, 14-12.
Notebook: Canfield remained undefeated last week by ripping Salem, 38-9, while Niles jolted Howland, 21-7. Canfield's defense, led by senior LB-TB Joe Rosko and senior DB Angelo Babbaro, was outstanding by containing Salem to 82 total yards and coming up with three turnovers. Meanwhile, the Cardinals' offense totaled 413 yards, including 297 on the ground. Babbaro and QB Frank Ross led Canfield's offense. Babbaro scored three TDs on runs of 11 yards and 1 yard and a 64-yard pass interception, while rushing for 175 yards in 25 carries. Babbaro went over the 1,000-yard rishing mark for the season with 1,062 yards. Ross threw two TDs to Kyle Banna for 15 yards and Pat Bellish for 20 yards, and finished with 116 yards in the air on 7-for-10. Adam Jones was 5-for-5 on extra-point kicks and also kicked a 32-yard field goal. In Niles' win over Canfield, senior TB Tyler Taylor rushed for 100 yards in 19 carries while sophomore Nate Ganyard scored the winning TD on a 2-yard run. After Ganyard's TD, senior Robbie Porter had a key interception to seal the win. Ganyard also rushed for 41 yards in 10 carries and also was a defensive standout at linebacker. Niles' other TDs were on QB Joe Razzano's 45-yard scoring pass to WR Sean Cleary, and J.R. Cline's fumble recovery in the end zone. Teddy Sloban kicked three extra points.

POLAND (3-4, 2-0)
vs. SALEM (5-2, 2-1)
Game time: Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Salem High Stadium.
Last meeting: Salem won last year, 21-8.
Notebook: Poland topped Struthers, 27-20, last week while Salem was drubbed by Canfield,38-9. Sophomore TB Brandon Beachum and junior QB Chris Lovell paced Poland's offense against Struthers. Beachum rushed for 185 yards, including a pair of 4-yard TDs. Lovell was 5-for-8 passing for 132 yards, including a 46-yard connection to junior TE Mark Branhart. Salem's high-powered offense, which had been averaging more than 350 yards a game, was limited to just 82 in the loss to Canfield. The Quakers' only scores came on senior QB Tom Jesko's 16-yard TD pass to senior J.J. Johnson and Bryan Wright's school-record 51-yard field goal.

MINERAL RIDGE (5-2, 3-1)
vs. MCDONALD (5-2, 2-2)

Last meeting: Mineral Ridge won last year, 35-6.
Notebook: Mineral Ridge lost to South Range last week, 28-7, while McDonald outlasted Lowellville, 28-27. Despite Mineral Ridge's loss, the Rams gained 335 yards, 258 of it on the ground. Senior John Hack led the way with 139 yards rushing in 20 carries, including a 32-yard scoring scamper. Senior RB Micah Hall added 86 yards in 18 carries while senior QB Vance Keirsey was 6-for-12 passing for 70 yards. Meanwhile, McDonald almost blew a 28-14 lead against Lowellville, surviving the Rockets' comeback on a missed extra-point attempt. Junior TB Josh Joynes, junior QB Matt Firment and junior FB Chris Mark keyed the Blue Devils' offense. Firment threw two TD passes to Joe Witkoski (19 yards) and David Dugan (6 yards), while Joynes rushed for 100 yards in six carrries and junior FB Chris Mark ran for two TDs (5 yards and 1 yards).
