Marrow just misses state tourney

HINCKLEY -- Boardman senior Tim Marrow shot a 75 to miss qualifying for the state tournament by one stroke at Wednesday's Division I boys district golf tournament at Pine Hills Golf Course.
Had Marrow finished with a 74, he would have played in a four-way playoff.
Cleveland St. Ignatius' Brad Mattson and Parma Padua's Rich Jaloski won the final two qualifying spots and Akron Hoban's Andrew Ward finished third in the playoff to miss qualifying.
Uniontown Lake's Ryan Gaughan shot a 72 to claim the first individual qualifying spot.
Medina (309), Avon Lake (313), Walsh Jesuit (313) and Mentor (314) claimed the four team spots for the state tournament, which will be played next weekend at Foxfire Golf Club in Lockbourne.
Nick Sainato (79), Mike Lower (86), Joe Strawinski (83) and John Watkins (90) also played for the Spartans, who had a combined score of 323.
Fitch senior Mike Johnson and Canfield freshman Nick Hardy also failed to qualify.
