Croatian dance troupeto give performance
CANFIELD -- A Croatian folk dance troupe that is currently touring the United States will make a stop in the Mahoning Valley.
Zagreb Folk Dance Ensemble will perform at Canfield High School Auditorium at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and students through college age, and are available by calling Louise Thomas at (330) 726-7529, or the Croatian Home in Youngstown at (330) 799-0914. Tickets will also be available at the door.
After the concert, a reception will be held at the Croatian Home, 3200 Vestal Road, Youngstown.
'Uncle Phil's Diner II'dinner theater at church
GIRARD -- "A Badger Homecoming: Uncle Phil's Diner II" will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 3, 4, 5 and 6 at the First United Methodist Church on the corner of Market and Main streets.
A diner-style dinner will be served during the performance, which is presented by the church's theater ministry, Two Blocks off Broadway.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-12. Call (330) 545-4361 for tickets.
Last year the group presented four sold-out performances of "Uncle Phil's Diner."
Exhibit features 5 artists
WARREN -- Five area artists will have their work on view during Trumbull Art Gallery's Sudden Opportunity show, which opens Saturday with a 6 to 8 p.m. reception. The exhibit runs through Nov. 5 at the gallery, 196-198 E. Market St.
Chosen at random in a drawing held Sept. 21 were Leslie "Lee" Roby, Lotte Herwig-Erhardt, Mary Pinter, Bill Perry and Donna Bentz.
Roby is a lifelong resident of Warren who concentrates on oil painting and ceramics.
Herwig-Erhardt was born and raised in Germany. In 1966, she immigrated to the United States, and took art courses at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa.
Pinter grew up in Leavittsburg and was a production worker for General Electric for 41 years. It wasn't until after she retired that she began to paint.
Perry lives and paints in Harmony, Pa. He began painting in earnest after retiring in 1998 from public school teaching.
Bentz is a self-taught artist who has lived part-time for the past 10 years in Santa Fe, N.M.
Line dance classes
YOUNGSTOWN -- Line dance classes are being offered at E.B. Family Life Center, 7 S. Garland Ave. The instructor is Classey Brown, and the cost per class is $5. Classes are for all ages, male and female. To register, call Sandy at (330) 746-7190 or (330) 743-0526 and leave a message.
