Bond stands at $1 million for murder suspect
He could face 15 years to life in prison if convicted.
WARREN -- A judge set bond at $1 million for a man charged with murder in his older brother's shooting death.
Municipal Judge Thomas P. Gysegem set the bond (cash or surety, 10 percent of $1 million) during a video arraignment Tuesday for Edward A. Brown, 20, who remains in the Trumbull County jail.
The judge also entered an automatic innocent plea to the murder charge and said a preliminary hearing would occur within 10 days. Brown asked for a public defender to be appointed to his case.
What happened
Brown is accused in the shooting death of Desion Brown, 21. Warren police responded Friday afternoon to a report of a shooting in the 2400 block of Willow Drive S.W. There they found Desion Brown with a gunshot wound, and he later died at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
Judge Gysegem told Edward Brown that he could face 15 years to life if convicted of the felony.
Youngstown police said they received a tip about 7:30 p.m. that Edward Brown, of Peace Avenue in Warren, whom Warren police were looking for in Desion Brown's shooting death, was driving toward Youngstown. They also received an Amber Alert that Edward Brown had abducted a child.
Cars found
After tips and street interviews, police found two cars at a residence in the 700 block of Sherwood, where police said two men were sitting in a car, and one fit Edward Brown's description. When police asked their names, one said "Edward Brown" and was arrested.
Youngstown police searched the home and found the missing infant, identified as Malik Brown, born Oct. 17, 2004, and returned the infant to his mother, Amanda Harvey.
Youngstown police searched both vehicles at the Sherwood address but did not find a gun.
