PREP SOCCER Poland reigns in MAC



Dain Malaniak's goal gave Poland a 3-2 win over Howland for the loop title.
POLAND -- Dain Malaniak scored the winning goal with a minute and 43 seconds remaining as the Poland boys soccer team edged Howland, 3-2, for the Metro Athletic Conference championship Tuesday at the Bulldogs' stadium.
Malaniak finished with two goals for the Bulldogs (13-1-1, 8-0).
Chris Juchno gave Poland a 1-0 lead as he scored a goal 16:23 remaining in the first half.
The Tigers (10-5-0) tied the score at the 15:09 mark, then they took a 2-0 lead into the halftime.
Malaniak got a rebound off the goal post and put the ball back in to tie the scored at 2-2 30:46 into the second half.
Poland had five shots on goal and Howland had three.
Canfield 1, Salem 1
SALEM -- Kyle Reese of Canfield and Salem's Bunk Mull scored the goals for their teams.
Canfield goalies Eric Clayton and John Congelio combined for 13 saves, while Salem's Justice Pash had 23.

Niles 1, Liberty 0
LIBERTY -- Eric Kramer's goal won the game for Niles.
Liberty is 6-7-2.

NEW WATERFORD -- Greg Bing and Cory Leeson scored two goals apiece for the Rebels (13-1-2). James Frost scored a goal and had three assists. Austin Elwonger had 19 defensive stops.
Brad Elder scored the goal for Oak Glen.
Bristol 7, Mathews 1
VIENNA -- Max Pajestka scored three goals and had one assist for Bristol. Shawn Lamosek, Jacob Sloan, Eric Rasmussen and Eric Maraczi each adedd one goal with Maraczi getting two assists.
Samantha Gualandi scored the goal for the Mustangs (1-13) on an assist Brittany Seman.
Brett Ford and Sean Kail, goalkeepers combined for 16 saves for Mathews.
West Branch 5, Alliance 1
BELOIT -- Johnny Wallace scored two goals, while Aaron Cronin, Matt McCain and Nathan Diehl added one apiece for the Warriors (12-1-2).
Joe Starkey and Clay Criss had an assist apiece for West Branch. Shane Young, goalkeeper, had nine saves.
Brint Gurung scored the goal for the Aviators and Seth Eichner had 11 saves.
