Police find man, 24, shot dead at home
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police were called to a residence on the city's South Side after a man was shot to death Tuesday evening at his home.
Police arrived at 420 W. Earle Ave. around 7 p.m. and found the victim, 24, dead. Officers arrested the victim's next-door neighbor and took him to the police station for questioning.
A dispute between the two neighbors began in August and apparently had been escalating, resulting in the killing, said Robert Kane of the Youngstown Police Department.
At press time, police had not released the name of the victim or information about the person in custody.
The city now has recorded 28 homicides this year. The previous one occurred Sept. 12. There were 22 homicides recorded in the city in 2004.
Police also were investigating a double shooting that occurred about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on North Evanston Avenue on the city's West Side. No further information was available from police Tuesday evening.
