BAZAARS
XThe women's group of Braceville United Methodist Church, 577 Park Road S.W., Newton Falls, will hold a bazaar and turkey or roast beef dinner Saturday. The bazaar will be open from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and dinner hours are 4 to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults and $3.50 for children 5 to 12. Carryouts will be available, and tickets will be sold at the door.
XTod Avenue United Methodist Women, 155 Tod Ave. N.W., Warren, will hold its annual bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Cinnamon rolls and coffee will be available at 9. Lunch will be served a la carte from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include soup, chicken pot pie, salad, dessert and beverage. The proceeds will be used for the group's mission projects.
XZion Lutheran Church, 10857 Main St., New Middletown, will hold its annual bazaar from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. A Chinese auction, crafts, baked goods, jewelry and white elephant items will be available. Luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring soups and sandwiches. A spaghetti dinner will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The cost will be $7 for adults and $3.50 for children 7 to 12. Takeouts will be available. CARD PARTIES
XSt. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society is sponsoring a card party from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 18 in St. Mary Church Hall, corner of Seneca and High St. It will include door and table prizes and salad bar. The cost is $5.
CHINESE AUCTIONS
XHoly Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church is having its annual Chinese auction Sunday at the church social hall, 525 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown. The doors will open at noon, and the drawings will begin at 2:30 p.m. Coffee and cake will be provided at no cost, and ethnic foods will be available for purchase. The cost at the door is $3. CRAFT SHOWS
X"Homemade In Ohio" Holiday Craft Show will be sponsored by S.C.O.P.E. Inc. of downtown Warren. Show will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 11 and 12 at the center, 220 W. Market St., Warren. Set-up time is 8 a.m. Table rental is $20 per day or $25 for both days. Electric is $5. All crafts must be homemade in Ohio, no imported items. Tables will be available for home-baked goods. XSt. Charles School will hold its 18th annual Harvest of Crafts Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the church social hall, 7325 Westview Dr., Boardman. More than 50 vendors will be featured with items including seasonal crafts, jewelry, wreaths, baskets, floral arrangements and clothing for purchase. The show will also include craft classes for children, a bake sale, luncheon menu, Chinese auction and a 50-50 raffle. All proceeds will benefit St. Charles Home and School Association for the education and development of the children of St. Charles School.
FESTIVALS
XSt. Rose Church Apple Fest will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday on the church grounds, 48 E. Main St., Girard. Three- and four-piece chicken dinners, half and whole slabs of ribs, hot dogs, applesauce and apple baked goods will be available, and also featured will be games, a Chinese auction with a drawing at 9 p.m., Aut Mori Grotto clowns, music by the Girard Community Band from 1 to 3 p.m. and a disc jockey from 3 to 9 p.m. Tickets to win a two-year lease on a new Chevrolet Cobalt are being sold at $10 each, with 1,000 tickets being sold.
FUND-RAISERS
XTickets are available for a Bingo for a Cure event Oct. 18 at Holiday Inn MetroPlex Centre in Liberty. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the first game is at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $25 per person and includes 10 games of bingo, auctions, door prizes and a bingo buffet, which will include pasta, salad, pizza and beverages. XTrumbull Anesthesia's Relay for Life Team is hosting "A Women's Expo 2005" from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Avalon Inn Grand Pavilion. Participants will have the opportunity to visit more than 30 vendors. Representatives from the American Cancer Society and Forum Health will provide wellness information and health checks. Admission is $5 and includes chances to win hundreds of dollars in door prizes. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. QUILT SHOWS
XHowland Community Church's Heritage Quilters will hold their 27th annual quilt show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church, 198 Niles-Cortland Road S.E., Warren. A collection of antique quilts on loan from Ohio Historical Society will be featured. A "Country Impression" quilt will be raffled off with other prizes. Ribbons will be awarded to quilts on display from local quilters. Vendors will display quilting supplies, and baby quilts will also be on sale. Homemade food will be served in the kitchen.
