S. Side woman hurt in assault at home

YOUNGSTOWN -- A South Side woman was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center on Sunday for injuries she suffered when she was assaulted at her home Saturday evening.
Crystal Denson, 37, of East Dewey Avenue called 911 around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. She suffered severe neck and back pain as well as hemorrhaging in her right eye and a deep cut on her forehead after being struck over the head with a plate-glass end table, a police report says.
According to the report, Denson argued with a man she knew about going out that evening. She alleged the man jumped on her in the basement and, when she ran upstairs to get away, caught Denson and hit her with the table. After she fell, the perpetrator punched and kicked the victim, the report continues.
While the woman was still on the ground, the man told his son to get his sawed-off shotgun, police said. The son complied and the man placed his firearm in Denson's mouth, threatening to kill her before the two left the residence, the report shows.
No arrests had been made as of late Sunday.
