YOUNGSTOWN -- The League of Women Voters of Greater Youngstown, the Citizens' League of Youngstown, the North Side Citizens' Coalition and Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods are sponsoring a mayoral forum at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Stambaugh Auditorium. The event will be televised by WFMJ-TV. Those wanting to attend the forum are asked to come no later than 6:30 p.m.
Fire station open house
HOWLAND - The fire department will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the fire station, 169 Niles-Cortland Road.
A specialized truck designed to rescue victims in collapsed buildings and construction trench sites will be dedicated at 10 a.m. The tractor, trailer and equipment were purchased through a $312,000 grant funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The truck will be used countywide.
Other events at the open house will include a health fair, bicycle safety course, child fingerprinting, car-seat inspections and fire safety education.
Seminars for attorneys
COLUMBUS -- The Ohio State Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Institute is offering a number of legal seminars for attorneys, and two will be held in Youngstown. They are:
UCommercial Activity Tax, via satellite, Oct. 17 at Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University.
UDistrict 13 annual meeting Oct. 21 at the Youngstown Club, 201 E. Commerce St.

Guarendi set to speak
YOUNGSTOWN -- Dr. Ray Guarendi, psychologist and author, will speak from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 25 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel social hall, 343 Via Mount Carmel. Guarendi is a frequent guest on "Catholic Answers Live" and writes a syndicated parenting column. He also co-hosts the radio program, "The Doctor is In." Donations will be accepted.
