New name for center
RAVENNA -- Portage Children's Center, 520 N. Chestnut St., changed its name to Children's Advantage as of Oct. 1.
The agency, in its 30th year of service, provides behavioral healthcare services exclusively for children, adolescents and families. Offering comprehensive behavioral care, the agency provides child-adolescent psychiatry; individual, group and family counseling; individual, group and family case management; early childhood, school and community consultations; parent education; and behavioral health training to community organizations.
The name change came about as part of the organization's long-term strategic plan. Among reasons for the name change were a community survey that showed that many people confused Portage Children's Center and Portage County Department of Job and Family Services and the fact the organization has grown to provide behavioral healthcare services beyond the borders of Portage County.
