Richey leads Springfield to 24-7 victory over J-M



A missed place kick made the difference in McDonald's 1-point win.
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Andy Richey scored a 57-yard touchdown and rushed for 88 yards on eight carries Friday to lead the Springfield High football team to a 24-7 victory over Jackson-Milton.
Anthony Warren's 14-yard touchdown run put the Tigers (6-1, 3-1 Inter-County League) ahead 7-0 in the first quarter.
The lead doubled when Nate Schuler caught a 50-yard scoring strike from Andrew Schuler.
Bryan Visingardi booted a 24-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
Warren rushed 15 times for 69 yards while Andrew Schuler completed six of 13 passes for 77 yards.
For the Bluejays (2-5, 1-3), Joe Skaggs rushed 17 times for 44 yards.
McDonald 28, Lowellville 27
LOWELLVILLE -- A missed place kick for an extra point was the difference as McDonald squeaked by Lowellville in the Inter-County League game.
Josh Jones rushed for 100 yards on six carries for the Blue Devils (5-2, 2-2). Chris Mark tallied twice on runs of 1 and yards. Quarterback Matt Firment connected with Joe Witkoski on a 19 yards pass and with David Dungan on a 6-yard TD strike.
Lucas Gonzalez scored on runs of 15, 4, 12 and 3 yards and he gained 175 yards on 29 carries for the Rockets (3-4, 2-2). Jon Calderon also rushed 20 times for 101 yards.
Western Reserve 61,Sebring 8
SEBRING -- Shawn Bryant carried 13 times for 120 yards and two touchdowns and Samir Awadallah added six carries for 104 yards and two touchdowns for Western Reserve (2-5, 1-3).
The Blue Devils finished with 496 yards, including 426 on the ground. Brandon Moherman was 3 of 5 for 70 yards and two touchdowns -- both to Chris Truitt.
Truitt also had a 58-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Michael Weekly ran 11 times for 50 yards for Sebring (1-6, 0-4).
Kyle Nannah hit 7-of-13 passes for 49 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Burd. Stefan Guy was 4-of-12 for 82 yards and two interceptions.
