YOUNGSTOWN -- The ninth annual Red Mass, a traditional celebration for those in the judicial and legal professions, is planned at 12:10 p.m. Oct. 28 at St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St. Monsignor Robert J. Siffrin, administrator of the diocese, will be the main celebrant. After Mass there will be a luncheon at the church hall. Judge Sara Lioi of Stark County Common Pleas Court will speak on "Being A Faithful Catholic in the World of Politics." For reservations call (330) 744-8451, Ext. 225.

CLARKS MILLS, Pa. -- Marty Haggard, son of country singer Merle Haggard, will present music and testimony during services at 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. Oct. 16 at Clarks Mills United Methodist Church, 3813 Hadley Road.
73rd year will be marked
YOUNGSTOWN -- Zion Hill Baptist Church, 220 Jefferson St., will mark its 73rd anniversary during a program at 3:30 p.m. Sunday Guest speaker will be the Rev. Joseph Davis, pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Farrell, Pa. Also attending will be the Friendship choir and congregation.
Healing Mass and lunch
YOUNGSTOWN -- A healing Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Casimir's Church, 145 Jefferson St., with Monsignor John Zuraw as celebrant. A light lunch will be served after Mass.
Visitor's Sunday planned
EAST PALESTINE -- Visitor's Sunday will be observed this weekend at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, corner of Grant and Walnut streets. Sunday school for children and adults will be at 9:30 a.m.; worship, special music and children's sermon, at 10:45; and fellowship at 11:45.
Gospel concert scheduled
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 328 S. Forest St., will present a gospel concert at 5 p.m. today featuring the Spiritual Angles of Youngstown and other area groups.
Church anniversary set
STRUTHERS -- Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 67 McClure St., will celebrate its 80th anniversary with a choir concert at 5 p.m. Oct. 15.

CAMPBELL -- Mount Moriah Fire Baptized Holiness Church will have a "Love Thy Neighbor Day" at 11 a.m. Sunday.
St. John Chrysostom
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Very Rev. Thomas J. Hopko of Ellwood City, Pa., Orthodox theologian, will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mark Orthodox Church, 3560 Logan Way, during a meeting of the Youngstown-Warren Chapter of the Society of St. John Chrysostom. His topic will be "Roman Presidency and Church Unity in Our Time: Orthodox Reflections on the Primacy of the Pope of Rome."
Father Hopko retired as dean of St. Vladimir's Seminary in 2002 and has the title of dean emeritus.
