New Jerusalem Fellowship marks 25th year
WARREN -- New Jerusalem Fellowship, 2555 Palmyra Road S.W., will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a combined service at 10 a.m. Sunday, replacing the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services this week. Intercessory prayer will be at 8:15 and Sunday school at 9.
Guest speaker will be the Rev. Samson Murray Jr., pastor of Triedstone Baptist Church. Alton L. Merrell Sr. is host pastor.
After the services, a special capital improvement fund-raising "soul food" meal will be at Renaissance Place Banquet Hall.
The church began its ministry Oct. 5, 1980, at the Warren YWCA then moved to the S.N. Dulaney Center, 1952 Brier St., on May 3, 1981. NJF began renting the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 671 Oak St. S.W. on May 6, 1984.
NJF bought 3.5 acres and broke ground Easter Sunday 1989 to build its current facility. Later, the fellowship bought 19.8 adjacent acres and received 18 acres of donated property at 1946, 1948 and 1950 Palmyra Road.
