MINERAL RIDGE Church to hold political forum
MINERAL RIDGE -- The First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Ridge, 1654 Main St., will sponsor a candidates' night from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 23 for those running for Weathersfield Board of Education and township trustee.
There are two seats up for election on the school board for four-year terms and two seats available for the trustee, also for four years.
The political forum will be in the church fellowship hall and is sponsored by the church education committee. Carole Rummel will be moderator.
The format will include having the school board give a presentation to the audience for five minutes starting at 6:15 p.m. Candidates are incumbent Bruce Bacak, Cheryl Basista, John Hack and Debbie Budrevich Maust. Incumbent Dr. Douglas Darnell is not seeking re-election.
The moderator will receive questions and direct them to candidates for their response. Each of the four candidates will have a two-minute final statement.
The same format will be followed for trustees candidates: incumbent Fred Bobovnyk, Richard T. Harkins and William Miller. Incumbent James Stoddard is not seeking re-election.
The church traditionally sponsors a candidates' night when there is a local election for the school board or trustees.
