COGIC Rev. Wellington is pastor of new Bread of Life church
The church had its first worship service in January.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Rev. Rocco Wellington is the pastor at Bread of Life Church of God in Christ, which had its first worship service Jan. 9. The church is at 25 Ridge Ave., where the late Bishop R. S. Fields had conducted services.
Sunday services include Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship at 11:30. Plans are being made for a Sunday evening service and Wednesday night prayer and bible band. Information on the church may be found at www.geocities.com/bolcogic.
The Rev. Mr. Wellington was licensed as a minister in March 1979 and ordained in June 1982 by the late Bishop Robert L. Chapman. His ministerial training came mostly from his uncle, pastor and mentor, Elder Andrew Redmond of Messiah Holiness Church of God in Christ, and Bishop Chapman.
At Messiah, Mr. Wellington has served as Young People Willing Workers president, hospitality and choir president, music director, Sunday School superintendent at the local and district levels, Sunday school teacher and secretary at the local, district and state levels, as youth pastor and counselor, associate minister, district secretary and financial secretary.
He is serving as a national adjutant for the Church of God in Christ and jurisdictional chief adjutant for Ohio Northwest COGIC.
Mr. Wellington also is a licensed, practicing mortician in Ohio. He is employed at the E.F. Boyd & amp; Son Funeral Homes, Cleveland, and served as operations manager of the Stewart & amp; Calhoun Funeral Home, Akron. Mr. Wellington also is in partnership with Atty. George Kafantaris at Wellington Funeral Home in Warren.
He graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1985 and is a former member of the legislative committee of Ohio Funeral Directors Association. He recently was initiated into the Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity.
