Warren Philharmonic to open season with Halloween concert



WARREN -- The Warren Philharmonic Orchestra will open its 2005-06 season Oct. 30 with a 4 p.m. Halloween concert for the entire family.
The orchestra will play Rossini's "William Tell Overture," which most people know as "The Lone Ranger" theme; Mussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain;" Dukas' "Sorcerer's Apprentice," which was made famous from Disney's Mickey Mouse cartoon; and Gershwin's Concerto for Piano in F minor, with Yehudi Wyner on piano.
Tickets are available at the Packard Music Hall box office. Prices are $23.50 for adults, $21.50 for senior citizens age 62 and over, and $13.50 for students age 13 to 21. Children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult.
The next event will be Dancing Hats and Singing Strings! on Jan. 29 at 4 p.m. Beethoven's Symphony No. 4 will begin the performance. De Falla's "Suite from Three Cornered Hat" and Mendelsshohn's Violin Concerto round out the concert.
The third and final concert, titled Fanciful Creatures and Conquering Heroes! will be March 18 at 8 p.m. Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf," Beethoven's Egmont Overture, Dvorak's Slavonic Dance No. 8 and Williams' "Star Wars Suite" will be performed.
Tickets for the entire three-event season are $55 for adults, $50 for senior citizens age 62 and over and $25 for students age 13 to 21.
