Grove City 8, Thiel 0 -- a five-goal first half led the Lady Wolverines (3-8, 3-2) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference victory. Freshman Katie Wolff (Centerville, Ohio) opened the scoring with her first career goal at the 5:49 mark of the first half. Stacey Brubaker tallied a pair of scores for Grove City, which finished with a 42-3 advantage in total shots and a 16-1 edge in corner kicks. For Thiel (0-11, 0-5), senior goalkeeper Ashleigh Dunsmore (Erie/Harbor Creek) recorded 25 saves.
VOLLEYBALL
Waynesburg 3, Bethany 0 -- Leading Bethany (7-12, 0-4), which played without senior Peggy Emmerling, was sophomore Lauren Spegal (Bethel Park, Pa.) with 14 kills. Juniors Amanda Bashioum and Linzy Turner (Weirton, W.Va.) both finished with eight kills, while senior setter Brittany Vavrek (Montour HS) was credited with 36 assists.
Waynesburg is 9-12, 2-2.
WATER POLO
Slippery Rock 2, Wash. & amp; Jefferson 0 -- Sophomore midfielder Heather Hassinger (Midleburg HS) and sophomore attack Janice Feduke (Etters, Pa.) scored a goal apiece to lead Slippery (1-10) to its first victory. Assisting on Feduke's goal was Kathleen Ross. Junior goalie Tara Bailey had one save. The Rock outshot W & amp; J, 15-1.
