Rapist, drug dealer get prison in Mercer Co.
MERCER, Pa. -- Two men received prison terms in Mercer County Common Pleas Court Thursday, one for rape and one for drug dealing.
Raymond Ortiz, 26, of Farrell Terrace, Farrell, was sentenced by Judge Christopher St. John to 42 months to seven years in a state correctional facility.
He was convicted after a July trial of rape and simple assault, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault.
According to court documents, on Sept. 17, 2004, at a Stambaugh Avenue, Sharon, residence, he pinned down a woman he knew, held her arms and raped her.
Richard Cannon, 67, of Webster Street, Farrell, was sentenced to 12 to 25 years in prison for seven counts of possessing cocaine with the intent to deliver, six counts of criminal use of a communication facility for using a telephone to arrange drug sales and one count of possession of a contraband substance, all felonies.
Court documents state Cannon was apprehended after an undercover investigation by Pennsylvania State Police and the Ohio Attorney General in 2003 and 2004 in which Cannon sold drugs to an informant in Hermitage and Farrell.
