4 teen boys arrested in variety of crimes

YOUNGSTOWN -- Four teenage boys were arrested Wednesday in three separate events.
Two boys, from Halls Heights and South Whitney Avenue, both 13, were charged with breaking and entering after a Mill Creek MetroParks patrolman said he saw them crawling out of a garage in the 100 block of Halls Heights with a bike tire and rim. The garage window had been broken, police said.
A 17-year-old Kirk Road boy caught driving a stolen 1987 Ford Escort on Linwood Avenue was charged with receiving stolen property.
A 14-year-old Jacobs Road boy at Odyssey school on Commonwealth Avenue was arrested on charges of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and criminal damaging. Police said the boy had refused to go to a "time-out" room and became unruly and struggled to break free from teachers and a patrolman, whom he then kicked. The boy is also accused of throwing the officer's cell phone against a wall, which broke it.
