Niles council OKs villa development

NILES -- Construction of a villa development off Niles-Vienna Road has been approved by city council. Realtor Jerry Altobelli told the lawmakers Wednesday night that the building of 25 villas on 17 acres will begin in six months to a year. The development will be across Niles-Vienna from Lantern Lane, between U.S. Route 422 and state Route 46.
The acreage is zoned to allow a group residential development.
The price of the villas will start at $150,000. Altobelli said he plans to build both single units and those in a duplex, or pair, configuration.
The agreement with the city calls for Altobelli to put in 25-foot-wide roads rather than the usual 27 feet, and sidewalks will be four feet wide rather than the normal five feet.
Altobelli has agreed to construct a privacy buffer between his development and existing homes on Rhodes Avenue adjacent to the villas.
