Howland has another title
The Tigers clinched their third straight MAC crown with a win over Poland.
POLAND -- Melissa Kohn scored twice and Allie Airhart and Erin Gilmour added goals as Howland clinched its third straight Metro Athletic Conference girls soccer title with a 4-1 win over Poland Wednesday.
Britney Martorana, Megan Long, Stephanie Keul and Gilmour all had assists for the Tigers (11-0-2, 7-0 MAC).
Poland (9-3-1, 6-2-1 MAC) was led by Jessica Toth, who scored the lone goal. Samantha Stanich had four saves.
The Tigers and the Bulldogs have been seeded No. 1 and No. 2 in the upcoming Division I sectional tournament.
Mooney 6, Warren JFK 0
STRUTHERS -- Kelly Burke scored twice and Melissa Simon added a goal and assist as Cardinal Mooney clinched the Steel Valley Conference title with a 4-0 mark.
Courtney Thomas, Vickie Dreiling and Veronica Skowron all scored for the Cardinals (9-2-1). Sara Garchar, Kelly Willis and Brittany Jones all added assists.
Warren JFK, which failed to get off a shot against the Cardinals, fell to 6-6-3.
Ursuline 2, Warren Harding 0
WARREN -- Katelyn Tondo-Steele had a goal and an assist for Ursuline (8-4-3, 3-1 Steel Valley Conference). Hannah Snyder added a goal, while Kaila Buckley and Dana Hinebaugh added assists. Jolanta Carkido had five saves for the Irish.
Stephanie Cross had seven saves for Harding (5-4-4, 0-2-2).
Fitch 2, GlenOak 1
AUSTINTOWN -- Brittaney Getz and Jodi Bowlen scored for the Falcons (7-3-3, 3-0-2 Federal League). Erica Bortmas had an assist while goalkeeper Cara Calai made five saves.
For GlenOak (3-7-4, 2-3-1), Jenny Cutler scored on an assist by Kelly Carnes. Goalkeeper Abbey McGaughey made 22 saves.
JVs: Fitch, 1-0.
Massillon Jackson 4, Boardman 0
BOARDMAN -- Lauren Thomas scored on a penalty kick 10 minutes into the first half and Jackson added three more goals in a Federal League match.
Ashley Lamb had six saves for the Polar Bears (11-0-2). Lani Vlad had two saves for the Spartans (5-5-2). JVs: 0-0.
Lakeview 7, Girard 1
GIRARD -- Paige Poulis, Megan Ameen and Rachel Taddei each scored two goals for Lakeview in a Trumbull Athletic Conference game.
Nikki Bevilacqua had a goal and two assists for the Bulldogs, while Allie Nero and Jenna Germano added assists. Jamie Schnarrs scored for Girard on an assist by Kelly Meigs.
Maplewood 4, Bristol 3
MECCA -- Freshman Erica Pinko scored two goals, including the game-winning goal with three minutes left on an assist by Tori Peterson to pace Maplewood (7-2-3, 5-0) in a Northeastern Athletic Conference match.
Pinko also had two assists. Spencer and Kristina Peterson each added one goal and Ellie Engstrom one assist.
Goalies Leah Dean and Bonnee Clute combined for eight saves.
For Bristol (5-7-2, 2-3-1 NEC), Trishna Helmick had two goals, Amber Price one goal and Katie Pajestka one assist. Kylie Robertson had 10 saves.
Badger 11, Pymatuning Valley 0
KINSMAN -- Jenna Miller scored three goals to lead Badger.
Shannon Sudon had three assists and Michelle Fitch had two for the Braves (7-6, 4-2) while Katy Dvorak had eight saves.
Stephanie Coe had 15 saves for Py. Valley (1-12, 0-6).
Late Tuesday
NEWTON FALLS -- Geralyn Tondo-Steele scored three goals as Ursuline shut out Newton Falls, 6-0.
Elizabeth Emanuel netted two goals and Katelyn Tondo-Steele one for the Irish (7-4-3).
Ursuline goalkeeper made 12 saves. Allison Snyder had 18 for the Tigers (5-6-3).
Boys
Lordstown 5, Mathews 2
VIENNA -- Nathan Rech scored two goals while Andrew Minton and Seth Mansell also scored for Lordstown in a 5-2 win over Mathews.
Brandon Wickline made 25 saves for the Red Devils (4-8, 3-4 NAC).
For the Mustangs (1-11, 1-6), Brittany Seman and Sean Kail scored. Seman assisted on Kale's goal.
Kail made 13 saves and Jake Klinger made eight.
Late Tuesday
MASSILLON -- Nick Antonucci scored as Boardman lost to Massillon Jackson 4-1 in a Federal League game. Boardman (7-4-2) goalkeeper Matt Moore made 11 saves.
For Jackson (9-2-0), John Brubach made four saves.
