Girard loss puts Eagles on top

GIRARD -- The Lakeview High volleyball team stayed in the thick of the Trumbull Athletic Conference race with a 25-21, 26-28, 25-23, 25-20 win over Girard on Wednesday.
Lauren McCumber had 11 kills and seven blocks while Michelle Antonelli made 32 assists and Kelly Moore had two aces for Lakeview (16-3, 9-2).
For Girard (14-5, 9-2), Elise Roscoe had 12 kills, nine points and four aces. Courtney Madden made 11 kills, three blocks and five points while Hillary Patterson made 10 digs.
Hubbard 25-25-25,Newton Falls 12-12-5
NEWTON FALLS -- Hubbard improved to 15-2 overall and 9-1 in the TAC. Newton Falls (2-12, 1-10 TAC) was led by Nicole Parkhurst with 11 digs. JVs: Hubbard 25-25, 23-17.

LEAVITTSBURG -- Maddie D'Orio led the Vikings (12-7, 6-5 TAC) with 20 kills and three blocks.
Stepfanie Higgins had 15 points and four aces. Lindsey Higgins had 34 assists and Lia Gordon had 15 digs.
Morgan Bonekovic paced the Warriors (6-10, 4-6) with 23 kills and six blocks. Courtney Christy had 15 digs Taralee Williams had 39 assists and Kara Egelsky scored eight points.

MINERAL RIDGE -- Megan Whtmer had seven points, six aces and 40 assists, while Allison Chepke had 18 kills and Laura Yash 12 blocks for Jackson-Milton (8-6, 7-2) in an Inter-County League match.
Abbey Kiger had 19 kills and Heather Reinhart had three blocks for the Rams (9-5, 5-4), while Sara Garland had 24 digs and Alex Ladd 20.
Late Tuesday
YOUNGSTOWN -- Michelle Pelini had 14 points, 13 digs and 10 kills as Mooney defeated Beaver Local in three sets. Vicki Kocanjer had 14 points, six blocks, four kills and four aces as Mooney won by scores of 25-17, 25-19, and 27-25.
Sarah Pelini had 11 points, nine digs and nine kills for the Cardinals (16-0, 5-0 Steel Valley Conference). Brittany Bleggi had 11 points and nine kills. Beaver Local is 6-12.
